Host Families Needed

During the summer of 2011 Global Partners will have two groups of high school students coming to Prince Albert from Japan.
1) One group will be here for 4 weeks to participate in an Intensive English program. At the close of their program they will then go to communities around the province to study at Saskatchewan High Schools for the 2011-2012 school year. This will be a co-ed group of students. The dates for this program are from JULY 23 - AUGUST 20. These students will attend classes at St. Mary High School on the week days.
2)The second program will be here for 2 weeks.All the students in this group will be girls. They will be studying English and will also do a few tours in the area. In this program we invite older host siblings to join in the classes to assist with increasing the frequency of English conversation. The program dates are JULY 22 - AUGUST 3. There will be classes on the Sunday and Monday of the long weekend with this program. Their study centre will be at Rivier Academy.

For both programs Global Partners provides:
* Pre-arrival orientation
* Regular contact and support throughout the students stay
* An honorarium for hosting

Global Partners wants families that:
* have two or more related people living in the home at the time of hosting.
* are willing and able to include the student into their home as a family member.
* will provide three meals a day to the student placed with them.
* are able to drive the student to and from the study centre (or arrange for transportation), which will be in Prince Albert, each day.

If you or someone you know would be interested in hosting for either of these programs, please contact Jeannette Eddolls at 763-4127 or jeannette@gpicanada.com

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)

The Rotary Club of Prince Albert invites applications from local students to attend an all expense paid camp which focuses on Leadership, developmental topics of interest to today's youth along with lots of recreational activity.
Approximately 50 students will be selected from Rotary District 5550 to attend each of two camps in the month of August: 1) Basic RYLA for ages 12-14 years; and 2) Advanced RYLA for ages 15-18 years.
The camp is held at the Anglican Church Camp, Clear Lake Manitoba (Riding Mountain National Park) and uses a "hands on"and "learn by doing" approach to leadership, learning and personal development. Camp RYLA is interactive and will provide a memorable opportunity to learn, grow as an individual, have fun and make new friends in the process.
For more information and/or applications concerning this Rotary-sponsored leadership opportunity, log on to www.rotary.org and follow the link to Youth Programs/RYLA. Applications to attend either of these two camps should be submitted to the school office by May 20, 2011.
For additional information regarding this leadership opportunity, please contact Brian Harris at 764-3526 or Kelvin Pankiw at 980-5322.
